if you can do it , and I can , and some others here can....
then of course the whole world can
we are just a small sample of what is possible
but people need to want it to happen
one step at a time eh ?

Like you, I have friends in all categories and, as individuals, we all get along just fine. The difficulties arise when one or more groups feels compelled to organize for the purpose of promoting their particular agenda. Those who use religion to manipulate what people accept as objective reality (or truth) continue to undermine humanity's progress toward universal peace. During my most cynical and skeptical moments, I can't even imagine how universal peace will ever be possible, as long as those who peddle religion continue to poison people's minds with ignorant superstition and mysticism.

So long as a single person believes it, then it is possible for us to one day all believe it and all live in peace. I think that it begins with compassion for all sentient beings. So long as we are detached from one another, uncaring, pessimistic, selfish and self-righteous in our beliefs, we will remain far away from each other and thus far away from such a peace. But if we have compassion for others, then it is possible to love one another without agreeing with one another. It is not necessary to agree with one another to live in peace. It is only necessary that we love one another. If we truly do, we will not cause suffering for each other and we will work to give each other the causes of happiness. I think such a state of affairs would look a lot like peace.

Only if we all ...ordinary citizens, politicians and religious leaders alike embrace and observe the rules of secular government and stop trying to weasel out special privileges for our own particular religious group...then we may have a chance...but how likely is this scenario?

I have been praised by all sides, and cursed by all sides.
People tend to see in me what they want to see, rather than see me for who and what I am.
Until that changes, these people will continue to do that to me and everyone else they meet.
And thus there is no peace.

I do believe it is possible because anything is possible. If you listen before you open your mouth quick and judge. Another lesson I learnt. I am a lesson learning machine!!

First of all, there are a lot of so-called Christians who aren't very Christ-like. Until that changes, I don't think we Christians can even get along with ourselves, let alone anyone else.

i think that we can live in tolerance of each other but not in peace because we all believe in different things and have different belief systems
