I'm flying Southwest and they do not have a coat compartment for business suits.. so how should I pack my suit for the trip?

Yes i have a garment bag to put the suit in, but I have to pack in a suitcase or duffel bag.

here are some tips for you. also, see if the hotel has a service that can press out your suit before you need to wear it. there are usually irons in the rooms and you could steam it (not press it) to get some of the wrinkles out. I hang my outfit in the bathroom to steam while I shower.

My father taught me how to pack and he travelled all over the world and could take a suit out of the suitcase and wear it. The key is as few folds as possible. Fold the jacket once, horizontally, then lay it in the suitcase. Fold the pants once, then lay them in the suitcase. The only other consideration is that you pack the suitcase full enought so that things don't rattle around. Also consider that many hotels, even cheap ones. have irons in the rooms or at the front desk and hanging a suit in a bathroom with the hot water on will help take out some wrinkles.

Dry cleaners' plastic works wonders. Just hang up the suit as you normally would at home, put dry cleaners' plastic over it, and then gently lay it in your suitcase, with the bottom part of the suit on the bottom layer and folding as few times as possible (maybe 1-2 folds) ending with the top part of the suit (the part that is touching the hanger) on top. I travel with my suits like this all the time and I never need an iron.
