Would be on for two weeks, off for a few days, back on or two weeks, etc.. Dealer said it was a bent evap cannister, so that was replaced last Saturday, light went off, about three days later it was on again, then two days later off, and as of now still off. I don't want to go back to the dealer to pay $$ for a diagnostic test and find nothing wrong, or replace something else that isn't the problem for mo money. Finally, no problems are noticed when the light is on.

Did an answers search, most seem to have probelms too, my car appears to run fine with no other problems, fuel mileage is also good, if those digital estimators with the odometer are accurate.

Go to an Autozone store and request a scan, they do it for free.

most if not all autozones can read your current codes (check engine light on), and give you information on that code. also, most if not all aamcos will do free diagnostic checks.

autozone can only read current codes (check engine light on). whereas, most shops have better scanners and can read "stored" codes (check engine on/off). you might want to call around your area and ask.

also, check for any cracked/loose vacuum lines that go to/from the evap canister, and also the engine. anytime you have work done, and something happens (afterwards), sometimes they accidentally knock something loose, or something to that effect.

I second the 'Autozone' motion. The diagnotic test is free. It won't be specific, but it will tell you if you have an emissions problem or if it's something else.
