I don't want to offend them, but I want to tell them the truth. They come by nearly every Saturday morning.

Just be honest. If you feel you have something to say, then say it. That's what they are doing too. I just tell them "I believe Jesus is The Christ. Have a nice day." Jehovah's Witnesses are being true to their faith and you should be also.

God Bless.

If i'm in a position to attain this bodily, i will answer the door. once i recognize for particular what the purpose is and the position it truly is coming from, I in a well mannered way decline their furnish of communication or supplies. i'm continuously well mannered the first time I say 'No thanks.' in the adventure that they persist, then i'm getting a lot less well mannered and bigger direct. If on my 0.33 attempt to end the communication they nevertheless gained't settle for my selection..then they're going to fulfill my dogs up close and own. no one..yet no one is getting into my domicile uninvited. I unquestionably have had some satisfying conversations with Mormon missionaries contained in the previous (and that i'm no longer being sarcastic) yet after what I stated for the period of my EMS career...i can't hearken to the Jehovah Witnesses.

Well it sounds like you are having some nice discussions, or at least they think so. As a Witness I can tell you, the best way to react is politely. One way Jesus said Christians will know each other is through our display of brotherly love.. If when one of us stops by, you want to have a Bible discussion, go right ahead. Everyone has an oppinion and is entitled to offer it. If you do not wish to discuss God with us, then simply ask us not to come back.

INSTRUCTIONS ON WHAT TO DO ABOUT DOOR KNOCKERS

The best way to learn what to do to stop JWs is to contact a synagogue and talk to the Rabbi.

Ask him how the ancient Jews got rid of the Christian Jews when they went from house to house telling their brethren that the beliefs, rituals, and holiday observances that they have followed for hundreds of years was no longer valid? Especially that there was no longer a need for sacrificing the lamb in the Temple for forgiveness of sins.

I’m sure they had ways to get rid of the Jews, who from their point of view, was a cult started by a Uneducated, Jewish Lower Class Carpenter, who was executed for cause by the governing authority. The only education he got was from his low class parents, Mary and Joseph. These followers were also uneducated Jewish lower class individuals, such as Peter, a failed fisherman, and Matthew, a hated tax collector.

Lacking any kind of education, let alone advance religious education, it was clear they were easily brainwashed into believing that the uneducated ex-carpenter was somehow the Messiah, which was clearly false as it was commonly known that when the Messiah came, he would destroy (Armageddon) the enemies of the true people of God, as foretold.

Saul of Tarsus, a highly educated individual in the religious arts, repeatedly proved they were a false religious sect and cult, creating their own scriptures (Bible) instead of relying on the Holy Torah, which had been used by the Jews for hundreds of years. Saul often stood by as the true believers of God stoned these so-called Christians for their door to door activities and spreading of false doctrine.

Now, I would not recommend stoning, but they may have had other methods that worked to stop the house to house work and the spreading of false doctrine . What worked for them against the Christian cult may work against the JWs. At least you will be in good company in doing so.

Or

Just call the Kingdom Hall and ask that your address be put on the back of territory card listing of no call addresses. At this point, they check back only every six months.

Know your apologetics well if you plan to engage in conversation with them. And know your logical fallacies, they play those cards well too.

Also remember that they're not there to engage in dialogue. They are there to convert you, and nothing else. For some reason YOU are the one that must have an open mind, YOU are the one that must defend your beliefs, even though they are at YOUR house and taking up YOUR time. If you don't plan to knock on their door and require them to defend their religion while YOU do the proselytizing, then you may want to ask them to provide you with the same amount of respect.

These folk believe implicitly in what they have been taught. I can only suggest that you ask them when they are going to have a another stab at predicting "doomsday", and where on earth are all the non-elect going to reside on earth, for only 144,000, they say, will go to heaven? Also, why do they choose to insert an article in John 1:1 to make the Greek translation read, "...and was A God" ? - That is contrary to the very essence of the Christian faith.

But they're already operating under the assumption that they have the truth... They're trying to get you to understand "their truth."

Be polite to them. Thank them for coming, but do tell them that although you're a Christian, your beliefs are bit different than theirs, and that while you appreciate what they're trying to do, and recognize how difficult it is, you're already pretty set in your beliefs.

If they persist, and won't let you leave the conversation, just tell them you have something on the stove, and you have to go...and once again, thank them for coming.

Be kind. They're required to do that as part of their faith -- and it's a tough thing to do because they face a lot of hostile people every time they do it.

You really won't be able to change their minds in a Saturday morning meeting at your coffee table. By the time they are door knocking, they are well indoctrinated, and not likely to be persuaded to change. You have to remember, that to change and denounce their faith would mean they would lose all communication from their family and friends. The best you could do is offer them a Christian tract, and a cookie, and a smile, which they probably won't take.

The last thing you should do, when missionaries ring the doorbell, is to tell them to go away. This gives them a bad impression of you and, if they know you're a Catholic, of the Church. Instead, invite them in to view or listen to a tape.

You won't have to do anything except be friendly. Whether they're Jehovah's Witnesses or Mormons or "Bible Christians," ask them to sit down and tell them you'll be happy to take and read their literature, but say that first you'd like them to see a videotape or listen to an audio tape.

A few missionaries will excuse themselves at this point, but most, even those who won't accept Catholic literature, will be willing to sit through a tape. When the tape is through, ask them their impressions of it. Have on hand Catholic literature, in case they want more information. Invite them back for another visit (at which you'll play another tape).

Don't get into an argument or a deep discussion. What you want to do is have them listen to the truths of the Catholic faith as spoken by experts. Those truths will settle in their minds and, over time, will affect them.

Just don't answer the door. Or you could invite them in. Offer some refreshments. Have a nice conversation and be on your way.
