If you know you're faith in Jesus means you are going to heaven, and I know God is going to use me as a fire-cracker on Judgment Day because I do not believe Jesus to be the Son of God, Doesn't that mean you -must- be Holier than me?

God wouldn't let you in if you aren't Holy enough to deserve it, would He?

And since He's going to keep me out, obviously I am not Holy enough for His taste.

Doesn't that mean you must be Holier than me?

Orion, no man on this earth is holier than you. A believer is not holier than you of his own volition. Anyone is holy in God's sight only in direct relation to that person's having come to Christ and dethroned themselves, and given God His rightful place as Lord of their existence.
No one "deserves" heaven, and certainly no one will enter Heaven on their own merits.
But I can infer from your question that some "christians" have thrown this at you, and unjustly so. Christ Himself said that there were going to be some big surprises in that day, and He included alot of believers in that warning.
For all you or I or anyone else knows, God may have a very special place of honor in Heaven for you. He does look on the heart-not the outward appearance like so many people do in these days of judgemental fools.

No, it doesn't mean anything of the sort. I am a sinner who deserves Hell. I am by no means holier than you or anyone else. The only difference between you and I is that I do believe that Jesus is what the Bible claims He is, the Son of God. John the Baptist said of Him, "behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world."

Therefore, I'll never "make it" to Heaven by works or any merit of my own. I'll "get in" because Jesus was without sin, and He spilled his precious blood on the cross that sinners like you and I may have eternal life if only we will resign from the "debating society" and cry out, "Lord, Lord, I believe, help my unbelief."

I am getting the impression that you are trying to start a holy war, so let me be clear on what I personally believe. I beleive in GOD and I believe in Jesus, I don't think you are going into a fire, GOD is infinite love / wisdom he would not be capable of sending you to burn an eternity for a mortal transgression, it would be the equivilent of me bashing my 15 years olds head against a wall for getting a D on her report card.
I have made a study of religion to come to the conclusions I have come to and I hope that you have done the same but I get the impression that you are just being a follower among people who don't really have a basis for what they believe, if you did you would know that Jesus hung out mostly with sinners. His basic philosophy was that they were the ones who needed him the most.On one day Jesus came across a man who had been blind since birth, his disciples asked, "since this man has been blind since birth, who's sins caused him to be blind, his own or his parents" the bible says that Jesus scorned the disciples, he didn't care who's sin, what sin, all he felt was compassion, and he healed the man. Also if I am correct Jesus' last words were "forgive them father for they know not what they do".
The biggest problem I have with people like you is, you are completely ignorant to the fact that Christ's whole ministry is based on love and forgiveness and yet you still try to provoke a fight. I realise there are so called Christians out there who do the same thing.Remember this Jesus was not a member of any organized religion so you do not need to be religious to be CHRIST-LIKE.And as far as who has the right to judge you, it's not me and GOD is merciful.
"Let that one among you who is without sin cast the first stone"

I am not holier than anybody else- GOD IS THE ONLY HOLY ONE. It takes humility to really realize that we are not good enough for heaven. When I accepted Christ as my Savior, I had to admit that I was a sinner in need of a savior. I am not holy enough to deserve heaven, or anything else from Him, that is why He died on the cross to allow me into heaven and to have a relationship with Him, here and now and for eternity.

Believing in Jesus is one thing - living out that belief is something else, and that is what will make the difference. I know people who live the Christian faith without ever stepping into a church or taking out a membership. And I know people who do belong to a church who are miserable SOB's in the real world.

God is - by definition - unknowable. We will only ever know bits about God, never the whole picture. But one thing we do know is that we are talking about infinite love - which means infinite mercy.

There is a school of theology that says the only people in hell are the ones who put themselves there. To me, that makes more sense than simply drawing a random card that says Go to Hell.

I'd work more on understanding and forgiveness and love than on sacrcasm and cynicism - that would be a step forward.

That's a pretty loaded question, but it's based on a lot of misunderstanding about God and Christ. First, I am incapable of being holy at all...only Jesus can be holy, which is why he had to die on the cross in order for me to go to Heaven. Without Jesus, God would look at me and see nothing but a sinner. I have lied, cheated, stolen, and broken just about every commandment...he would have every justification to send me straight to Hell. However, when Jesus died, it's like his blood covered my sins so that God doesn't even see them anymore.

I have always imagined it like snow. I am bare ground with all kinds of flaws and damage. I am terribly ugly to God. But the day I accepted Christ, he covered that ground with beautiful pure white snow. That snow is perfect and can't be damaged by anything that I do. When God looks down on me now, all he sees is that perfect white snow.

I am still not holy, but I am acceptable to God because Jesus has made me clean again.

My entrance in Heaven has nothing to do with my holiness or my deserving it. I am a sinner and deserve to be cast into hell. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. God, in His love for us, sent Jesus to provide a way to cover the sins I have committed and that was his beloved Son. If I had been the only person born, Jesus would have still come, and lived and died for me. His holy blood covers my sin, and when God looks at me, all He sees is the blood of Christ covering my unholiness. You can have that forgiveness too. It's free.

Your statement suggests that you believe in God. IF you are living His commandments then why should you consider yourself as a firecracker on Judgement Day.
Christians know that we are all sinners...no one can or should claim to be more holy than anyone else. But, sinning is one thing, the willingness to repent and try to turn away from sin is more of a key.
Live your life, seek forgiveness from God and your fellow man when you should.
Peace be with you.

If you have done nothing wrong in your life i highly doubt you will be "tossed into the lake of fire".
You do not have to believe in God and Jesus to be a good person. I personally do not believe that He will condemn you to the Fires of Hell because you have not chosen him as your savior.
It is actually a hard topic to figure out. Because no body really knows.
The way you live your life is up to you.
If you are a bad man then it is possible you be condemnd to the Fires of Hell. but i persoanlly do not believe that He would condemn a person to Hell just because he has not chosen to follow God.

I'm not holier than you. I'm a human we're sinful and make mistakes. I've just accepted that Jesus can help me be the person that I ought to be. God overlooks what we've done wrong because Jesus has asked him to and because we have faith in him not because we're squeaky clean.
