Yes I lived there. Places to visit - monument (long waiting lines), Smithsonian, Air n Space museum (7th St), Navy Memorial. Lots to do this time of year. Get you a tour guide downtown DC. Hotels are expensive but stay in the area of the tourists (Pennsylvania Ave NW, etc). Call for a complimentary tour book or call/visit a travel agency.

I live here. I have visited many monuments and memorials here. Been up to the top of the Washington Monument, which is the one with Monument in it's name (the others are generally memorials.) It's fun.
I live here, so I rarely stay in a hotel, but I have stayed in the Holiday Inn on Capitol Hill, and the Ramada Inn in Crystal City (many years ago).

I went to the monument. I didn't need to stay in a hotel. I live 4 hours away from D.C.

Love DC! Stayed with family, so a hotel was'nt necessary. DC in my opinion is one of the greatest cities in the world. NYC is New York, Philly is where I live, but something about DC to me is where I want to be. Plus the salaries in this town are great.
P.S. Be advised the cost of living is astronomical!!
