Can you please tell me what is a better car for a teenager and can we get it for $16,000 out the door price? Also, what other new cars do you recommend for $16,000 ( including everything) ? It seems like were having a hard tome negotiating off the price of the car.

Any advice please..Thanks so much :)

Do you know if Scion are one price cars? They say they dont negotiate on Scions, is that true? Thanks

The new 2007 Scions are $18,500 and the dealers refuse to take a penny less. What can we do if we want to buy a new one. I dont know if they are lying that its ONE price for everyone.

Thanks everyone for all your help!!

Yes, Scion offers "no haggle" pricing (similar to Saturn).

Not sure why you're considering a Sebring, it's a mid-size family sedan, not really what I'd consider a teenager's car, although you could probably get a nicely equipped lightly used one for under $16k.

To be honest I wouldn't be buying a brand new car for a teen, at most I'd give them a hand down (like a used Sebring), but here's some good cars under $16k:

-Honda Fit
-Nissan Versa
-Honda Civic DX
-Ford Focus

It is better to avoid Chrysler altogether. The company is getting sold right now and God only knows what will happen to all their cars.... Very poor reliability for years.

Yes it is true that Scions are one price cars. Check out the price at www.kbb.com, www.edmunds.com and request quotes from the dealerships before you walk into one.

Look also into a Mazda 3. I own one and I love it - it is the best car I have driven period. At least go test drive one - it is a teenage car and you can get it close to the price range that you are looking at.

Used cars especially Hondas and Toyotas are the best buys. The only drawback is you wont be able to negotiate for the price of the cars online on used car. You generally have to go to the dealership. Check out cars.com, autotrader.com and area dealership websites and find the car and the price you like and go to the dealership. These days all the dealerships offer internet pricing which is usually bare bottom price and they may not negotiate more than $500. Make sure once you go to the dealership you ask for the internet pricing of the car that you looked at. The dealerships will try to fool you by telling you that the market value for the car is $xx assuming you have never seen the internet price. Make sure you know their internet pricing.

If you decide to go for a new car let the dealers compete for the price online or over the phone without you not being at the dealership. It is absolutely not wise to do it otherwise - they will rip you off... I am speaking from experience. Have bought 5 new cars in the last 4 years.. so I know what I am talking about. Some of them will call you and tell you that they need you to come to the dealership to "make it happen". Be sure to tell them if they can't give a quote over the phone, they are not getting your business. Also, ask them for a car with "no dealer add ons". If you don't know what that is, they are things that they add to the car at the dealership like pinstripe, paint protector, interior shine or whatever. They mark these things like crazy. You can get them done outside for 75% less price.... Good luck!

A scion xB is going to cost much less then 16K even if you add the led lights on the interior, the tail light upgrade etc.
I have had an excellent experiance with mine, and when rear ended, my damage was 600...the car that hit me..a sebring to be exact, had a blown radiator, tore off his license plate, crumpled his hood..and cost over 3000 to fix. It runs great, has tons of room on the inside, and the stereo..which for young people is important, is awesome..the stock one. I am not young, and had 8 verterbea fused with rods, and this is the most comfortable car I could find...I carried 20K around in cash for 2 months, testing out cars, would not even look at this because it was ugly and when finally convinced to, fell in love with the comfort.

Get a Scion. If you buy a Chrysler product, you are asking for a lot of car trouble.

i'm usually all for american cars, but this time, i would have to go with the scion. they're sportier, better quality, very good reliability, and looks cooler.

i do no longer have confidence them too lots. 120kmiles is purely too lots. Their 4 cylinder isn't solid sufficient and their v6 is a hardship one. I on no account heard somebody possessing them and actually like them.
