You can eat anything you want, so long as you do it buck naked in front of a full length mirror. Check with your MD before you start any diet/exercise program.

I can only give some suggestions, but it's really up to you on how you would really like to lose your weight & how fast...
I walk anywhere from 30 min. to 1 hr. every day that I can, I also stoppped eating (hamburgers & other things) from restaruants ( Now that they taste like a grease patty), The main thing was & still is, sometimes, is that I stopped drinking pops, ALL teas & pops. (diet, no caffine, etc...)
I lost 40 pds. in 5 months & kept it off for almost a year
My sister also did the no pop & tea thing & she also lost 40 pds.

Depending on where you stay (USA let us assume), www.weightwatchers.com is the best bet for you. Also consult a good nutritionist and get a good basic guide to good nurtrition. Exercise (walking, muscle building etc.) is a must along with good nutrition. Thyroid disorders, if any, should be rectified.

Exercise and moderate your food intake. Do remember to do your cardio regularly for at least 3 times a week. Each time is 45 minutes. I wrote an article on my website about fat loss tips. You can read it at http://www.missionsculpt.com/body/10-simple-tips-for-easy-fat-loss/
