Such a claim is NOT made in the Bible.. Much of the genealogies there are gaped. The Bible is a brief outline of God's dealings with mankind. Not everything ever said was recorded... Jim

It doesn't.
Just a bunch of Narrowminded fools, who can not see the real evidence, in say, the Grand Canyon...or whatever.
There are trees, that are older than that...probably.
Like in the Sierra Nevada...
They just can't understand, that the World was here, the waters were her, everything was just in Darkness.
I know that the Powers that be, have been, being for millions, even probably billions of years...
Its not like a spirit body is going to get any older, it just keeps on going, forever.
I got a link, which explains it pretty well, if you get too bored, maybe check it out.
Clearly, as a Rockhound/ self taught Geologist...
I will not listen to any who tell me, the world is 6,000 years old.
Oh I believe in God, but I am sure He made this planet, about 5 billion years ago.
here is a link though, if you care, others do agree, the world, and all this, did not happen, just 6,000 yrs. ago.
I know its a faerse to believe that5.
And to try and push that on someone, I think its like Blaspheme, and you should get that person Stoned, I mean stone that person...
http://www.kjvbible.org/theworlds.html
There you go.
Its a long, wordy site.
But atleast you can see, there are millions of Christians, who agree with the idea, that This planet has been here for Billions of years.

there was a group of people that used ONLY secular history to find out how long man has been here. the results were that humans have been here for approximately 6000 years. the bible was not used in this research.
scientists have to have this ridiculous amount of time to prove their "theories" about the origins of man. in 2 Peter chapter 3 it speaks in the last days of intelligent people being willingly ignorant and denying the creation of this earth and man.
i will find the source of the above study and get back to you

Last week it was 6,000 years old! Where did the other 400 years go?

The idea for 6,000 years came from Archbishop Ussher and cannot be found in the Bible. You are now free to go back to Sunday School, but don't tell your teacher what I said..

In my personal opinion the bible is something that people should use as a guide for life and is not meant to be taken literally. There are many people that believe in the bible because of the claim that it written by people that followed the word of God. I disagree with that, because anyone can claim that they are following God's word. That does not make it true nor does it make them right. History has shown that a lot of evil things has been done by people that claimed they were listening to God.

Personally, the bible has way to many contradictions for me to follow it like many people do. It is really open for interpretation because many people can read one verse and get something different out of it. It is your personal choice and if you feel are not comfortable with the bible then do not live by it.

Quit believing what someone that is in this world has to say about what the bible says for they do not have the truth but you search for the truth and it will be given to you.

Where in the Bible does it gave a date of creation? You are basing that date on genealogies which is not the same as an actually flat-out date.

2 places in the bible it says a day to God is a thousand years. There is no date saying when the earth and everything in it was created.

The Bible is not a scientific book but a spiritual book. It is our spiritual ancestry. The Pope has said that evolution is not at odds with God's plan. The creation story tells us when God breathed life into man...breathed his soul, God's own image, into man.
