If it is a gentle rain, it can be ('course fish are contrary so you never know LOL). The rain drops hitting the water make the fish think that bugs are hitting, or so I have been told. Bottom line, if you want to go, and you don't mind the rain, go for it. Good luck and I hope you do some catching along with the fishing!

Well in my experience it has gone both ways. I think the reason is that the rain washes many things back into the lakes or rivers. Which means the fish have tons of things to look at and eat. For example: What if some crickets died on the bank of a lake, and when the rain began to fall washed them into the lake. Do you think the fish would eat em? Me too! No matter what though, fishing is great, rain or shine. Just stay dry and enjoy being outdoors, right? Take care!

It can be - it depends on heavy the rain is and how much debris is being washed into your swim - I remember one day I was fishing the canal for carp - blanked all day then the rain started and I hit and landed an 11 lb mirror;
Pike fishing can be good in the rain as long as you use a bright lure (red head/white body normally works well).

Bass fishing is great in a light rain. If the water starts getting murky, adjust by using a colorado blade spinner to put off a lot of vibrations in the water.

Fishing is good in or out of the rain. Will they bite? Depends. Probably yes. Are having fun yet?

I'm remember having a slow day on the water fishing for bass when a summer shower came and the fish caught fire. Three of us caught 12 bass in 20 minutes.

Right before a storm is good, also right after. If it is a light rain it shouldn't hurt the fishing unless it is a cold front.

My grandfather always said (as an excuse to not take me fishing, long story) that "It looks like it's about to rain, and those fish, they don't like getting wet."
I didn't really believe him then, and I definitely don't believe it now, but it is always a good thing to tell yourself when you're on your way to work or something and really don't have the time to stop and throw a line in. ;)
