I'm going to go to Tokyo from Paris for a month from the middle of August and now I could find around trip by about 1000euros and am wondering when is the best time to book the flight. Like a month before? or now? Is the price of 1000euros going to be higher or cheaper?

You can get a flight from London to Hong Kong for much, much cheaper using Oasis (oasishongkong.com) - very flexible since one way is just half the price of a return flight. Kind of "easyjet" for intercontinental flights. So far they only fly from HK to London Gatwick and Vancouver, Canada. You can get flights for 150 pounds sterling each way including tax.

From France i would get either Eurostar or a flight to London and the train to Gatwick. The earlier you book the better.

If it's a scheduled carrier, it's better to book ahead of time. The last minute seat sales tend to be something you only see on charter airlines - waiting too long means that price could dramatically go up.

I heard recently right after midnight was the best time to book a flight because that is when held flights are cancelled & these flights need to be filled.

Try your travel agent, there really isn't a best time, it depends if the fare requires a 21 day advance purchase etc, it's not last minute that's for sure.

=)
