How could anyone have documented what he said? This isn't reality television with a camera crew following everyone around.
Monologues like this are usually found in plays, and are usually a tip off that you are reading fiction, or at least a fictionalized account.

I've read it sixteen times, one hot momma.
It's not only fiction, but really bad fiction.

you're quite right. The evangelists weren't writing a documentary. The literary genre of a 'gospel' is different. You qualify 'fiction' with 'fictionalized account', which is correct; another qualification could be 'theologized account'. So not fiction in the sense of 'made up', but certainly not a transcript either. This is what biblical scholarship for the last 200 years has been addressing.

It's true, they had no camera. But they did have people. When people saw something, there was a chance they would write about it. I suppose that in the desert fasting, Jesus told them what happened. In the Garden, all the disciples were asleep, except for at least one.

They were told to keep watch but dozed off not once but three times. I would imagine, when Jesus wanted to wake you, you awoke!
They were told what would happen, but they could not believe it. Like someone walks by you and tosses keys to a new Bentley. You see it happened but your mind does not process it.
Also you see the different points of view in the 4 gospels. Matthew-matter of fact. Get the high points. Luke -- get the personal side. The soldier gets his ear cut off by Peter, we learn. And so on.

They had a general idea when Jesus did communicate with them and told them to stay awake. They were awake long enough to see what happened but then they fell asleep and Jesus woke them up twice.

I think that since you ask so many questions and can't stop wondering things about God and the Bible, that God is actually speaking to you, working in your life, convicting you, moving you to learn about him and come to know him. I will pray that you will give your life to God so you can start saying good things about him to people instead of trashing His name all the time.

True, I've asked myself that same questions and many others. But I cant blame God and/or Jesus for all the man-made twistings and misleadings.
