I'm not with you. Those of us who are not delusional should be able to shop whenever we wish.

Sunday is NOT the Sabbath! The Sabbath begins Friday at sundown and end Saturday at sundown. God told the people that this would be a everlasting covenant between He and mankind. It is a day or rest and prayer. The Bible says nothing about it being a day of worship. The Church, in most cases, has chosen to worship on the Lord's day. The day of of the week She remembers the resurrection of Her Lord. Paul made it clear that a Christian should live every day as to the Lord. I say that the USA not being a theocracy we should allow all men the decision of when, how, and if they will keep the sabbath... Jim

Jewish people observe the sabbath between sunset of Friday night and sunset of Saturday. Should we close all the shops then as well? I mean-- their religious beliefs are earnestly held, and we should respect them as well, right??

What about Ramadan? Should we close all restaurants because Muslims are fasting during daylight hours?

Maybe we should just let people's consciences determine when they want to shop and spend their money. Those who believe in keeping a sabbath holy will already be staying home. You can't "make" the other people care.

I am old enough to remember when shops closed on Sundays and at the time some people found it inconvenient, however now that the pace of life is hectic and every town is crammed with shoppers and so much noise, the prospect of a quiet Sunday free from the capilist madness really apeals to me.

i 100 percent agree with you however i dont think that you will be able to get everyone to close down so you yourself have to take a stand and not shop on sunday. My family has been doing that for a while now and we dont miss not going to the store on sunday. It is unessecary there is nothing you need that you cant get during the week

Sabbath to some, not to others. Closing businesses on one persons sabbath would be unfair to those of other beliefs .If businesses were made to close on each religions sabbath, they might not be permitted to open at all. Who's with me ?

Saturday is the Sabbath, moron.

Sundown Friday to sundown Saturday.

Always has been, always will be.

Sunday is the first day of the week, not the seventh. And it's the day set aside for the worship of Roman Sun gods.

Sunday service was started by the catholic church, back in the day of the Roman Emperor Constantine when he force christian to church on Sunday at the threat of death. Back then christian went to church on the sabbath day, that is from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown.

Sunday (Day of the Sun), as the name of the first day of the week, is derived from Egyptian astrology. The seven planets, known to us as Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, the Sun, Venus, Mercury, and the Moon.

Jesus and Paul went to church on the sabbath day

Luke 4:14And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.

Luke 4:15And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.

Luke 4:16And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.

And now Paul

Acts 18:1After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth;

Acts 18:2And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them.

Acts 18:3And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.

Acts 18:4And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.

In th end

Isaiah 66:22For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.

Isaiah 66:23And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.

Isaiah 66:24And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.
