The whole argument FOR illegals is that they do the work nobody else will and that they are a source of cheap labor. So when they become legal/citizens, they will no longer work for peanuts. The unions will draft them and they will then demand union wages and benefits that will drive costs up for everyone. before long, they will no longer be content to clean bathrooms and pick crops. Then who will do the work?

If they become Americans, they will demand and receive minimum wage and more, then their former employers will fire THEM and hire a whole new bunch of illegals.
Giving these people amnesty and citizenship will NOT stop the border invasion.

There have been cases were illegals have been deported and the jobs are replaced by American workers almost immediately, even if they work the minimal wage.

Believe me, they'll find the legal workers to replace the illegals. It's just that the employers will no longer be able to save so much money since they are no longer paying under the minimal wage.

New illegals will do the work.... that's why any sort of amnesty program will not fly. It didn't work the last time we tried it.

As for them staying in their jobs because they can't speak the language, that's a load. Look at South Florida's Cuban community and how well they became acclimated to the area.

The Cubans own and run almost everything in Miami which is fine, but I'll give you one guess who mows the lawns.... that's right... Mexicans..... who washes dishes in the Cuban restaurants? Illegal Haitians that's who.

There will always be new immigrants who don't want to or can't go through the proper channels and until we do something about our porous borders there will always be a supply of workers waiting outside Home Depot, willing to work for 10 cents an hour... of course there will also always be people coming in to do harm to our country by taking out our military bases or wrecking havoc in some other manner.

I am sorry to say that illegal immigrants are already part of the union and already work in factories and receive union benefits. I am sure that most crop pickers will continue in their positions because they probably do not speak enough English to get a job elsewhere. And they will still work for peanuts because the employers will pay them just that, just like they pay blacks less than whites.

It is a fallacy that illegals do work that American citizens won't do. They are taking work from citizens. Plus, farmers are required by the Labor Department to pay higher wages to immigrants with green cards than American citizens. This may be argued, however, I know for a fact this is true.

After the illegals who are here now become citizens, guest workers from Mexico will be allowed into the U.S. to do stoop labor. Guest labor is one of the provisions under the new immigration laws that our slimy congressmen are trying to enact at this time. So, there will be no shortage of exploited illegals for U.S. businessmen to use to maximize their profits...................

The first priority to deal with border jumpers is to achieve maximum border security (If we don't stop them from coming across the problem will never be solved). Then, to make things difficult for those still here, we can make it illegal, or tax it highly, to have monies sent to Mexico. Only after we absolutely stop the flow across the borders can we begin the hunt for the illegals who are still in our country. New laws would dictate 2 solid years for those illegals caught the first time. 5 solid years for those who are caught for the second time. While they serve their time, government agencies can utilize them as a work force to save the U.S. taxpayers money...............

It has already happened and they aren't citizens. The farm worker jobs that the media likes to show pictures of when speaking of the illegals have been short of workers in both Florida and California. And that's with over 12 million illegals already hear. *They* don't want those jobs either. They want the construction jobs like bricklayer, drywall hanger etc. because they pay better.

Its either, the new citizens will get a better job and make the us economy grow and everything else safer. Or whoever hire illegal immigrants will keep doing it to pay no employment taxes or workers-comp. Its a vicious circle and it keeps growing.

No, they keep busting their a$$ for minimum wage while their children go to school, learn english and grow up to have a better life. And as a union member I can tell you we don't draft anyone, you can't get into a union in the construction trade without a high school diploma and proof of citizenship.

They already have this power in California. All you have to do is watch California and you will have all your answers. They drove down the wages. They set the competition. That's why we have to raise minimum wage. Contrary to what you're being told, it is the salary of poor Americans who can't compete as minorities in their own economy, not only the salary of teenagers as so often misstated.
