why do my dog get excited when i call him "Walkies!"?

A question as an answer, do you say that before talking him for a walk? If so he knows what you are saying. When I was a kid growing up if you said to our dog "You want a walk" he would run to where his leash was kept. If you said in the same tone of voice "You want a bath" he would drop his tail and try to hide. Dogs really know what we say.

Because its actually his girlfriends name and he thinks shes near OR because in dog language Walkies means lets go crazy OR because he's a crack head and doesn't know whats going on, all he knows is that wen u say Walkies theres a chance he'll get outside to buy from the local dealer!!

Because when people generally take their dogs for a walk they say "Walkies" to them. They remember the word and what happens after you say the word...so they get excited.

when you go for a walk normally, you say "Walkies!" he knows that something he enjoys follows after you say this, him going for a walk. if you say "Walkies!" he will think that youre going to take him for a walk, and he likes walks, so he gets excited.
