One of my 3 cats is crazy! I cant even put my sneakers on without having him attack the laces (and sometimes my fingers)! Its almost like he is MAD at the laces!

Why does he do this?

because you allow him to, because its a game for him, and because its helping him develop hunting skills.
all cats will play with string etc and try to catch it, attack it etc.

Toys that charm to human beings do no longer unavoidably charm to cats, and merchandising appeals to human notions of exciting, because of the fact this is the human who has the money! the acceptable toys that i've got got here across for cats are a million) wadded up paper, 2) a laser pointer (they'll chase the "dot" on the floor just about to the factor of exhaustion), and 3) a short fishing-pole form toy with a string and feathers on the top (even my 15-year-old abyssinian performs with that one!!).

Cats have an instinct to hunt snakes, and string is like a small snake! My smallest cat cornered a 42 inch diamond backed water snake.

Because it's there. Anything that is around my place that looks like fun automatically becomes a kitty toy whether I like it or not. As long as they don't destroy it, I'm happy to let them play with it. Strings are always good because they move and present a challenge to the kitties to catch it.

My two cats are the same way. I have noticed that my female is more into it than the male. She gets very physical in trying to capture it, while my male will play along for awhile until he gets bored. Definitely hunter instinct going on.

Its Instinctive behavior hardwired into their genes. All the kitty ancestors that just laid there and let snakes crawl right up to them have died off, evolution in action.

Just about anything that moves will drive a kitty crazy.

It activates their prey drive. Hang a string or something similar on your doorknob and watch them REALLY go crazy. They love it.
