Get a job (start at the bottom) working for a hotel catering department. That is what they do, plan events. Get some experience and then once you have a few years of experience, apply for bigger and better jobs in the field.
Convention centers would be good.

Check around on the Internet and see if you can find any hotel training schools.

See if you can volunteer to work on putting together school events. I was the PTA fund raiser for my children's elementary school for a few years. We put on many events and that would be a great place to find out how much you would really like the job.

Good Luck.

Co-ordinate some events.

I'm not just going for the cheap laugh. It will be a good way to see if you really enjoy it and give you valuable experience for a CV. Start by organising small scale charity events with more experienced organisers and aim to develop the scale of events you work on and your role. Keep detailed notes of what you are involved in and what went well and what you would improve. I don't know about uni courses in this area but again, whatever you choose to do at university, get involved in the Student Union events.

those jobs fairly much consistently pass to a chum. locate somebody with expertise and artwork with them for loose. this won't purely strengthen your wisdom of the sphere, it is going to very much strengthen your contacts (acquaintances). success is purely some months away. sturdy success.
