Both Countries have the lowest crime rates in the world.
Japan is highly atheist.
UAE is highly muslim.

Is this a proof that morals have nothing to do with religion?

Crime rate is mostly determined by the influence that society has over the people, particularly the young people. Parents and what society thinks is very important to young people in Japan. But take the Japanese to Nanking, China during war time, e.g. WWII, and you can see that morally they are no better than any one else. People don't change; the basic character of the Japanese is the same today as during WWII.

Yes I know the US dropped the atomic bomb on Japan but ultimately, it saved lines including the lives of some of my relatives who were getting ready to invade Japan. You could stand to do some more reading yourself.

that is not true.
The laws are not comparable.
There is more prostitution in Japan, and lots of things go un reported due to family honor.
As far as muslim countries go, if your wife wants a divorce, you can kill her for family honor.
Tell me, you call that moral?
It has nothing to do with religion, and everything to do with cultural laws.
I am surprised you did not see this connection.
Most violent gang related crimes in America are commited by people from other countries. Have you never heard of Triads, Tamil Tigers, Have you not seen Jamacan gangs, or Latino gangs. Did you not notice muslims flying planes into the world trade center.
By the way, I have been in both countries.
I would rather be here in North America and i would rather that they stop sending their problems over to us.

To the asker:
What does prostitution have to do with crime, if it is illegal then it is a crime. It is only legal in Nevada. Also, how do you think they keep the prostitutes in line. With violence.
Did you ever hear about the comfort girls of WW2?
Snached from their homes and forced to service the soldiers?
I see you have no problem with that do you.
I see you are not educated or open minded in any way.
Sorry, but it is sad but true.
I guess you will be moving to UAE or Japan soon, so have a nice trip

I just had a conversation today with one of my Japanese students about religion in Japan. He says most people in Japan do believe that there is a God, and that his wife prays to the Shinto gods every morning. They have loads of religious rituals they abide to from the day a child is born. Where this idea of atheism in Japan comes from I don't know, because it's not the idea I get from the Japanese I talk to every day.

Most Japanese will answer that they are atheist by them self.
But there are lots of religions in Japan as well.
Most ppl are afraid of confessing their religious faith. Because most religion other than Shinto is assumed as a cult little bit.
And as you know, there are Shinto shrine everywhere in Japan.
Shinto is not as same as western religion. Shinto is kind of polytheism, and there are no statute of God in the Shrine.
Cos Shinto assume the nature is the God. Each God is embodiment of nature.
Only a mirror in front of you for facing yourself.

Actually religions and morals are exsisting in Japanese life even today.
When ppl bow in the shrine or temple, they are not only praying but also appreciateing to God.

I brought up a similiar point about belief and crime rates. No one listened. In the Western world, the US is the most religious but we have the worst violence and crime.

Morals are God-given and do not depend on religion, however, it takes religion to make bad people (people with low morals) do good things.

UAE is not a good example ,because it is small but rich , and everything is easily under control , I think this external control make your judgment unacceptable

Exactly well done!
Excellent point morality's foundation is the survival of our species. Cannibals dont last very long they start eating eachother at some point and who can you trust if you're a cannibal
