beach formal?
That says sundresses and linen pants/shirts to me...although I'm sure you'll get questions no matter what.
I don't think business casual (though a known phrase) belongs on a wedding invite. They're coming to a party, not a conference, right?

Unfortunatly in these days many people do not know how to dress for weddings. And beach weddings are tricky.
You can include Dress: semi formal in the lower right hand corner of the invite or on the rsvp card. If you aren't using those you can tuck in a small pretty piece of paper with the dress requirement. Perhaps a small poem or nicely worded saying? or just the Dress: yacht club attire! (he he).
Most people picture flowy dresses and linen slacks for the men with pressed shirts for beach stuff but I would specify.
Blessings.

WOW, I know some people that "beach chic" would mean a nice bikini, and others would interpet it as a nice sundress for women, and khakis and shirt for the guys. I would think New England clambake type clothing. What I would do, is call the bride, and ask what she defines as "beach chic." She's the one who put it in the invite, she's the one who knows what SHE means by "beach chic." Good luck!

I like the term "beach formal" and don't forget, its friends and family... make sure both of your mothers and the bridal party know what you're looking for... chances are, most guests will ask one of them before bothering you with the question

you would not put this information on the invitation. It would be most appropraite on a reception invitation and I would say "garden party attire requested"

You don't include wording for a dress code. People know how to dress appropriately for a wedding, whatever the style of wedding it is.
