i need to make an incubator and want to wire up a dimmer switch?

i have it all set up electrics but its to hot i got a dimmer switch and did not know how to wire it up i have the lights plugged in to a 3amp plug socket any ideas on fitting a dimmer switch?????

i need to wire up a dimmer switch cos the temps to hot

i tried to put the lights in one end and the power cable in the other but no it went boom and blew the whole electrics in my house lmao so i need anther idea to make the temp the right any ideas??????

Put the switch between the lamps and the power supply.
There is usually a common (ground) wire and the "live" wire.
