There is no place for such things anywhere. And where they take place, only education and opportunities provide hope for their redressal.

They can't. It is horrific and nothing can justify killing of any kind. This "honor" murder is something that cannot be justified in any Bible, Koran or any other book of salvation. Not only that, no human has the right to take the life of another unless his life is in direct danger.

I do not subscribe to the death penalty, however I concede that it is appropriate in certain circumstances. It is curious that the Administration and the moral majority will put a person to death, but will not allow stem cell research that could save millions of people of their suffering.

None justifies them except idiots. Muslims of Pakistan and Afghanistan practise them when members of their family marries outside their clan by eliminating their own relatives who have married outside!

In Islam equality of all is said but since the Pakistanis and Afghans practise Honour killings which is against Islam they cannot be called Muslims!

Do u expect "Rule of Law" in India ? Very recently, after winning UP election, Ms. Mayavati had nominated at least 10 hard core Criminals to join her Ministerial cabinet ! There are Abu Salem's men in our Rajjya Sabha ( as highlighted by a TV channel sometime back ) besides hardcore criminals in the Parliament ! That a group of criminals are killing in the name of "honourable killing" is, perhaps, only possible in India.
We will have to wait for some more time, let us hope.

It has been around for a long time.
"The killing of people for sexual crimes has been known since the times of Ancient Babylon (1700 BCE). The Codes of Hammurabi and Assyria (some of the earliest sets of laws discovered), focus on the perception that a woman’s virginity belongs to her family."
We still have the reminders of this sort of thinking in our society when men who kill their wives for adultery receive a lesser punishment than murder for other reasons.

I've missed something in the news again, I suspect. Is this something about a family member killing a person who disgraced the family? Muslims, by any chance?
