do they kill chicks and eat eggs of songbirds?....Thanks

See attached. I'm presuming that you are in UK & are referring to the "rat with a bushy tail" or (Eastern) Grey Squirrel which was introduced from North America. All facts required are on this link & yes, they do eat chicks & eggs.
