What are the different types of maps?? And what are the uses of each of them??

Maps come in different types depending on what the need is. Generally they would be as follows

Physical:

Show features such as mountain ranges, rivers, plains and deserts by using different colours, White for frozen areas, green for fertile, brown for desert, blue for water (seas, rivers, oceans and lakes), deeper blue for deeper water.

Political

Show different countries and borders, usually in different colours, with towns and cities also.

Street map

aerial view of an are, a city perhaps, showing streets and building of interest, railway stations, town hall, castles etc.

Weather map

Shows different features of weather, usually on TV such as rain, snow, sunshine, wind, hurricanes and so on.

Migrant map

Showing movement of people or animals over a period of time.

There are also lots of other maps used in industry, for example when I worked in finance we had a demographic map that showed areas defined by wealth so that we knew where to target sales. This had areas split into socio-economic groups divided as to A, B, C1, C2, D and E with A being the richest people, B the so-called 'middle class', C1 White collar and office staff, C2 Blue collar and manual workers, D unemployed and E those living off benefits.
