I find that the best thing to do is isolate yourself for a bit and meditate. Google meditation or search yahooanswers for information on meditating. It can have a huge, positive impact on you. Also, take a moment to realize the reason why you're mad, and ask yourself if it's really worth the anger and negative thoughts you're allowing yourself to feel. Realization is one of the most fundamental things in life.

I usually scream at whoever was dumb enough to make me mad, then I go to my room and lay down for an hour or two. When I get up, I usually calm and collected enough to talk. This may not be the best but it never gets out of hand.Im very careful to not say hurtful things.

Stop whatever you are doing, close your eyes and take 2-3 nice slow, deep breaths.
Then move to another room or spot if you're out of the house.
There is no better thing to do than to have your own new private space after you get angry.
Think about yourself - you don't want to have your blood pressure shoot up.

Hold your tounge at the bottom of your mouth. Dont let it touch the roof of your mouth. Do this for several minutes and your anger will be much harder to build. Plus you will be distracted. Sounds weird but works.

Avoid making the wrong comment. Try to walk away and be by yourself so you do not make any mistakes. Calm down and hopefully difuse the situation.

Find something to distract yourself from your anger. I try walking it off and a lot of times it really works.
