I don't think that actually having children hampers your sexlife at all. After my children are in bed, my partner and I have all the time in the world. But by the time you have had children with someone, I kind of feel that while sex is still important it's not the be all and end all of the relationship anymore. And how often depends on normal factors, time, tiredness, stress and work commitments.
My partner and I try to have sex at least once a week, but again, it's when the mood strikes. Sometimes it's once a fortnight and sometimes it's 5 times a week. This week, we've had sex 3 times in 5 days................

It really just depends on what is going on that week. If it's a hectic week and we have lots of appointments and are just worn out....maybe once a week. If the kids or one of us are sick, sometimes less, but we try at least once a week. If we have a good week, no problems, or emergencies, we aren't stressed about school or work or kids, then maybe twice. But with 4 kids, we are rarely stress and worry free. my kids went to bed @ 8:00pm so the rest of the night was free for us to do anything we wanted. To answer your question
usually 1 or 2 times a week or whenever the mood struck us..

Ummm... I think most couples do the thing as often as they want.... with different time only I guess after the kids are in bed or before they woke up....
