Do you have a local consumer body able to advise you on your rights with a view ultimately of getting your money back or of getting a store credit note. They may also write to the manufacturer on your behalf and get them to refund your money due to the inherent design faults / flaws you have identified (particularly on such an expensive model).
Best of luck
btw - I heard digital radios use up about 4 x the power of a standard radio

Sounds annoying, but I'd say no, it's not the dumbest invention in the history of mankind. I'll give that title to the first steam-powered loom that gave rise to the industrial revolution and the beginning of our 9-5 consumer lives as we know them.

No, I think that the drinking cup that shocks you when you drink out of it to prevent hick ups has a little bit higher chance of being the dumbest invention ever invented. But, I'm sure that there are even dumber ones that both of these!

First, congrats on quitting smoking! Unfortunately there are many, many worse inventions out there. Like the mini fan you clip onto your forks, or chopsticks to blow air on your food to cool it off. In any case, Have you thought about selling it on ebay? If it's in good condition you'll get a decent fraction back of what you paid for it. Sorry to hear someone's lousy product prevented you from a good night's sleep, you just shouldn't F@#% with someone's sleep. .

I don't know about clocks but the dumbest thing I can think of ever conceived (aside from the Atomic Bomb and other weapons that kill thousands/millions indiscriminately) is Asbestos Fiber, even though they didn't know what that stuff did to lung tissue at the time it was being put in insulation.

lol, i'm so sorry! not laughing at you, just at myself.
yes, i agree dumbest product ever... this is one of my pet peeves, pple selling stuff that is utterly worthless!
if you saved your reciept you should be able to get a refund, if you can't, sell it at a yard sale or ebay and warn the buyer not to use it in their bedroom.

Sounds like either it is faulty, or you failed to read the manual. Either way i would return it, that is way too much money for a device that even when working correclty is designed to purposely annoy you (just like any other alarm clock).
