You are missing something... the Holy Spirit. The Bible may seem to contain errors and contradictions because several people wrote the different sections and books within it. There is a human factor in the communication which is fallible. Some believe there was a "master" document known as "Q" that the writers referred to in their relating of the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John). The perspectives and faith of the individual writers flavor the insights that are shared in their writings. What is considered infallible is the truths that are revealed. Anyone can read this book and come away with a new thought and an agreement to the main concepts and truths that are presented in the many stories, quotes and even songs found within it. Truths are simply that... truth. Facts that we may or may not agree with when we flavor our interpretation of what is written with our own unique perspectives, beliefs and insights. The Bible is a Spiritual book written by people who were inspired by the Holy Spirit of God. The truths they have presented are clearly revealed to those who have the same Spirit within them. This is why they are considered infallible... the truths do not change and neither does the Spirit who inspired and reveals them. The Spirit of Truth is only one of the many names given to the Holy Spirit. Christians are given this Spirit when they repented of their sins and asked God to come into their lives. The Spirit of God then abides with and is within them. It is because of this Holy Spirit that they know that there is a living God, who loves and cares for them, and who reveals even more of the endless truths found within the greastest book ever written.
