Artificial rock is an industry that caters to recreating the look of nature while implementing the advantages of technology. For example waterfalls, statues, ponds, swimming pools and decorative pieces. The concept behind using artificial rock is that using real stone is not always an option due to massive size and weight restrictions. In some areas finding real stone can be almost impossible.

Another advantage of well crafted artificial rock is that you can build things that look as though nature has added them to the landscape. Building a waterfall with real stone - giant boulders while effective - does not resemble a naturally occouring waterfall but instead looks as though large rocks were placed in formation by a human. Artificial rock can be built to suit any environment, to fit in any space constriction and blend with any natural or man made landscape.

Wile there are many different mediums or artificial rock construction, typically there are two catagories.

1) is plastic and resin polymer construction. These typically look like a fake rock made with plastic with the primary advantage being their light shipping weight and cheap overall retail cost.

2) Concrete is the ideal medium for high end artificial rock construction. Concrete is relatively inexpensive, extremely durable and long lasting and bears a natural resemblance to the properties of real stone. All high end artificial rock construction such as swimming pools, ponds and waterfalls will fall under this catagory of construction methods.
