It is Hynix 1GB 1RX4 PC2-3200R-333-12. I have a Dell Optiplex GX270. The RAM will fit in the slot but the notch in the bottom is in a different place than my slots! My computer takes PC3200 RAM. Any help please???

You need DDR modules and you bought DDR2 modules. The slots and pinouts are different on the two. PC2 is DDR2 and PC (as in PC3200) is DDR. You also bought registered RAM (that's what the "R" on the end of PC2-3200 means) and your system doesn't take registered RAM either.

You need standard PC3200 DDR400 modules.

Here's what you need for your system: (you don't necessarily have to buy from them, it's just an example)

There are different kinds of RAM depending on the mainboard.
You unfortunately bought the wrong type of RAM for your Optiplex.
You will have to inform the vendor from whom you bought the RAM the model of your computer and he should replace the RAM that you bought with the correct one.

According to the research that I have done on available memory for your computer, and the memory that you ahve bought, the cuts in the memory are in the same place.

First of all, are you sure that the memory is in the right way around, and that the memory is seated correctly in the slots at the end of each memory bay.

You bought the wrong one. Have it replaced or if they won't, just sell it. Here's the specs for your RAM upgrade:
