I want to change cellular cariers from Nextel and purchase a new Blackberry. Any suggestions?

Where do you live and who has the best service. That is the way to pick you next cell phone provider. You will not be happy with the blackberry.
Used to work for VZ and everyone get ride of the black berrry fast. Plus there is a $44 a month charge for unlimited used of the Blackberry service with VZ. Others will charge as well.
Cannot tell you how many disappointed people would call to change the Electronic Serial Number on the phone and return back to the old Motorola Raza.
Have fun, but you will not be happy.
