Distribution first

2(7 + 3f) = 8 + 3f
14 + 6f = 8 + 3f

then get variable to one side
by adding -3f to both sides

14 + 3f = 8

now isolate the variable, first by addition
add -14 to both sides

3f = -6

then divide both sides by 3

f = -2

First distribute the 2 to the terms in the parenthesis.

2(7+3f) = 14+6f

14 +6f = 8 +3f

subtract 3f on both sides.

14 +6f -3f = 8 +3f -3f

subtract 14 on both sides to isolate 3f.

14 + 3f = 8

14 -14 + 3f = 8 -14

3f= -6

divide both sides by 3 to have f equal the number.

3f/3 = -6/3

f= -2

2(7+3f) = 8+3f <=>
2*7+2*3f = 8+3f <=>
14+6f = 8+3f <=>
14-8 = 3f-6f <=>
6 = -3f <=>
f = 6 / (-3) <=>
f = -2
