I am upgrading my computer case from a case that holds 1 fan to a case that holds 3-4 fans. I only have a slot for 1 fan on my mobo. Can I get some sort of a splitter that will allow me to have more fans? Is it likely that my mobo can put out the extra juice to support the splitter? Are there alternative ways of adding slots to power the fan (pci etc)?

Thanks,
-Simba

Assuming you have enough juice from your power supply, get a 4pin molex splitter like this:

Adding extra fan is a good idea, but has serious drawbacks in that your power supply is subjected to an overload. When that happens, power to your HDD is interrupted intermittently and causes HDD to crash-very BAD!
So even though you can get a splitter, Iwould not advise you to.I have 6 fans in my system-but in order to have them all running I connected another 12 volt transformer fitted with a female plug. This little unit draws its own current230volt here and transforms it to 12volt dc,and then in turn powers all my fans SEPERATELY and independantly from my systems power supply.I have no problems.Hope this helps

You can buy case fans that have a power plug that hooks to one of the cd-rom type power plugs and it also has another power plug, so you do not lose any power connectors. The fan power wire contains one male and one female plug.

They are available at most computer stores.
