Each person I see, I make my own story up about them based on my first impression. This can be everything from them not happy in their job so they started dating the boss' daughter for fun, to their company email being spammed by a sex only dating service and they just met up with their cubicle mate's 3 o'clock to tell them about his herpes and the four kids he has to feed at home . . .
If I am really that interested in them I may watch to see if they make any telling "couple" moves like holding hands or such. Otherwise, I presume innocence before imagining illicit stories.

I usually just ASSume that a girl and guy who are out together are a couple. Because if they ARE (a couple) then you aren't prowling into Her territory. If they aren't and he seems interested, he will approach you.
Some gals need to stop acting like such heffers around womens men. It's just not attractive. Guys only want one thing from a girl like that anyway.

Depends how they look together. Some people you can look at and just tell that they're friends, but with others you can see they're a couple. It's all about the intimacy...

so~~you saw that dude you like out with some other chick? Could be his sister, cousin, best friend~~or it could be what you think it is!
Obviously you don't know him well enough to ask -or- you would be embarrassed to ask him -or- you're afraid it might seem like you're jealous because you asked!
Whatever the reason--you're in the middle of a conundrum!
What to do?
Ask him what he was doing that particular night! Watch his eyes! if he looks up and left--guess what?~~ he's lying!
And if he lies about where he was and who he was with~~you don't need to be with him!

You forgot the first question. You forgot to ask me if I cared?
Because if I were concerned enough to discern a male and female as to which relationship they have, I would have to pay some attention to them. Which is to say, looking at her body language, and his reactions to those. Whether they are dating or not is of no consequence to me. So, I don't really care. You see?

If they're "dating" then I would think they're a couple.

I would probably be more apt to think they were a couple. I don't know why I think that. :o)
