heh... the real reason why G-Dub won't get elected for a third term isn't really tied to term limits or the potential declaration of martial law... honestly - and this may just be an opinion that i have - there would be about two days until you had riots happening everywhere. right now, people grumble and *****, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel - namely, the presidential elections in the upcoming year. but bush's approval rating is dismally low, and i don't think that the people of America would sit there behind his crazy *** unless it was absolutely neccessary. due to term limits, which make it illegal for him to continue being the president, and the already stressed amount of tolerance that we the people have for governmental chicanery, i really don't see any attempt to do so ending well.

Guess what party worked to add this amendment to constitution? The Republicans who never wanted to have a president sever more than two terms or max of 10 years. When there darling Ronnie Reagan was our leader they wanted amend the constitution for Ronnie to run again.
Better read the fine lines of the Bush-Ashcroft Patriot Act there might be clause in there that Bush can run again because of the war.

Considering how bad his first two terms have been, I think it would be a horrible idea. But I do think a President should be able to serve more than two terms. I think if they are doing a good job then the people should be able to vote for them again. FDR got elected 4 times and he was a great President.

Who would *want* to serve a third term? Haven't you noticed how hated two-term presidents have become by the end of their time? By one side or the other... let the old man have a rest. He's probably dying to step out of the spotlight by now.

Personally, I think there should not be a 2 term limit. What if there was the most wonderful person running the country and he/she wanted to run for a 3rd term? Why Not? I like George, but I think he's tired...

It is not possible. But i must point, that in many coutries Presidential term limited by no more than two. But in a row. So, if some person really brilliant he/she can wait 1 term and if he still popular among people ballots for a new term.

Not going to happen. Amendment to the Constitution that says "a President can serve a MAXIMUM of 2 full terms..." This, of course, was added after FDR died after he had died in his 4th elected term...

News flash!!!! After FDR, a person is limited to being elected to two terms; so thankfully we won't have to see squinty eyes every day anymore.
