chances are the house is old and sounds u may hear could be old pipes, or u may want to do an actual electonic voice recording of the noises urself and ur friend hear. if u dont know how i can tell u, simply take a tape recorder and let it run until u have to turn over the tape, unless u have a digital voice recorder, u can turn this device on and it can record with out the use of a tape, the digital voice recorder will pick up any sounds that u may hear. then play the recorder back, if u hear the voice on the recorder, have others listen so they know ur no goin bonkers!! but keep in mind, recording is crucial and u must let the recorder run all night unless it's at a specific time of the day or what not. hope this helps?

If your friend has a pet, it could be the pet. However, if you really truly think that a stranger is in the house, you can call 911, but only do that if you seriously think that you could be in danger.
Is there a friend or parent that you can call and ask to come to the house so you won't be so scared?
Just turn a tv on and turn on as many lights as possible and I'm sure you'll feel better! Good luck. :-)

Funny you should say that since I had that same experience earlier tonight (I woke up and am now on the computer.) I woke my wife and asked her if she heard the noise and she said "no" and then rolled over and went back to sleep. Then I realized that I was bordering on being asleep myself and what I might have "heard" was a dream-like experience for me. And then "got-a-grip" on myself, realizing what an individual would have to go through to get in my house (dogs and guns and lights), and figured that if there really was someone in my house that I didn't invite, I'd REALLY know about it and not be wondering, wherein the poor sucker would be dead shortly. That was about two hours ago, and I've since gotten out of bed and walked clear across the house to my computer. Just a dream. God Bless you.

Ok, first do check there is no one at the house. If not, houses and buildings "store" sounds. When it is silent (like at night) sounds are "liberated". It is like a recording. If you visit a school in the late afternoon you might hear voices, laughter, etc. It is normal.
The older the house, the more sounds it stores, of if the weather changes.

well, if you're friend is a boy, you could cuddle really close to him! haha
depending on where you live, you should actually just look at make sure someone didn't walk in. I lived in an apartment a few years ago and the girl on the floor above me pushed the wrong floor on the elevator and then walked down the hall an into my apartment by accident

my god, I thought you were jenna untill you said it was suppose to be going on to night! HAHAH!
Me and a friend went through the same thing, now and then it would sound like a kid (or really light weght person) was running across the hard wood floor upstairs too.
In the end we just talked to them, said hey look, I'm jeri she's jenna, this is her house now, I don't know if it was ever your, but it's ours now. But you're welcome to stay if you're not ready to move on yet, just please be quiet, you're starting to scare us. We don't want to disturb you, please don't disturb us. Thanks for listening.
And weirdly enough it worked. after a couple days of just quietly talking to them, we havn't heard a peep- for 3 years or so.
