Ok, Ive seen about 5 different posts saying the Spurs were given the series. The Spurs are good, they're really good. Its not like some scrub team beat your team by default. I have alot of respect for the Suns. I wish Amare and Diaw would have never been suspended, but it happened. Game 5 wasnt the last game of the series. The Suns had a chance to pull it off. Im pretty sure they had all their starters for game 6. They lost. Please stop whining, you know, like how you say Duncan does? Steve Nash has become one of my favorite players after this series. Amazing. So heres my question. Who thinks this is one of the best series they've ever seen?

Oh, and to Jeff. You're a Suns fan aren't you? Haha, should have guessed. I dont mean it was one of the greatest series Ive ever seen because of bad calls and such. It was one of the best series Ive ever seen because it was the 2 best teams in the league, going head to head, swirled in controversy, filled with emotion, and wins on the road for each team. Oh yea and Jeff, its gonna be ok. You just need a warm bottle and your mommy to tuck you in. (tear)

Steve Nash was making me nervous in those last few minutes, I thought he was gonna single handedly force game 7! That's one bad mo-fo! He's your MVP. His shots weren't falling for the first half, his team is being molly-whopped in the 4th quarter with 3:00 to play. What did he do? He stepped up and brought it within 5! Unfortunately the Silver and Black was too much for him. Dirk only WISHES he could shine in the clutch like Nash did tonight!

The Suns didn't lose this series because of one game, they lost because of four!

Gotta give the Suns their props though, with a little maturity and maybe a different coach, they are championship material.

This series is in my top 3. My favorite series of recent years are as follows:

#1) Spurs vs. Pistons - 2005 NBA Finals. All seven games
were nail-biters!

#2) Spurs vs. Mavs - Series came down to seconds in the last quarter of the last game!

#3) This series. Would have been better without the suspensions, but as Tony Sorprano would say, "Whaddya gonna do?".

Do I like the Spurs??? NO
Do I root for the Suns in the regular season??? NO

But let me give you my 2 cents...

What everybody seems to be forgetting is the psychological aspect of a series...the mentalities that take place prior and after each game.

What should of been a great mentality for Phoenix going into Game 5 (winning in SA when they were down and tie-ing the series with the next game being in Phoenix) was stripped from them. Instead it went to (how are we gonna pull off a victory with 2 key players are suspended) Sure they had the chance to pull it off but three of the five Suns players (Nash, Marion, and Bell) were on the court for more than 45 minutes each... I'm sorry but fatigue-ness and tiredness is gonna kick in.

What should of been a low mentality for SA coming into game 5 (losing at home with a lead towards the end of the game preventing a 3-1 series lead, now heading into Phoenix when the game is tied) was kinda also dampened away after finding out that two key players on your opponent's team are suspended for that game)

You say that Phoenix lost with all their starters in game 6, but once again you are ignoring mentality. SA's victory in Game 5 (which I am convinced was due to Nash's, Bell, and Marion's tiredness for playing more than 45 minutes each due to the Suns being short-handed without Stoudmire and Diaw...also kick in that SA was doing horribly the first 3 qtrs) set up a must win situation at SA after losing Game 5 when 1) you had 2 key players suspended (Im sure the Suns thought it was an injustice, that and wondering how they can suspend their 2 players for leaving the bench and not Bowen for kneeing and kicking) and 2) losing a lead at the end of game 5. Just thinking of that could leave some doubts in you.

Look, I'm not saying that Phoenix would of won Game 5 if Diaw and Stoudmire where not suspended (heck it would of probably been an entire different Game 5 we saw...possibly real close throughout the game, or SA dominating, or Phoenix dominating) but when the NBA officials make a QUESTIONABLE ruling which changes the mentality of the teams, instead of letting the teams duke it out on their own as they were in the first 4 games, then the entire series would be affected...

Bye the way...I think the Mavericks-Spurs series last year was the best I've seen

I have a question, don't think I'm just making fun though. How can anyone think this was that exciting of a series? I mean, it was MEANT to be, but with all the hoopla surrounding it, it ruined it for me. The constant news about amare calling them dirty, the foul on nash that they showed like 200 times on espn and tnt (and that's me not even looking for it), both teams playing mediocre (the suns especially, they had tons of chances to win the games that they lost) and Bowen, lastly, also kinda ruined it with some questionable plays. It was MEANT to be a good matchup, and it certainly could have been, but it fell short, in my opinion. There were a lot of other series' in the past that were a lot better, and not even because they went to 7 games. I wouldn't care if this series or the next was in 4 games, if they were all exciting and fun to watch, then I wouldn't care, it would be fine.

In this series, I didn't see any team win, I just saw teams lose (i.e. when the suns lost, they shot horribly and had tons of chances to win, when the spurs lost, they also played bad). I like seeing both teams play well, but one team actually beat the other instead of a team playing so bad they lose their chance.

I wish these crazy cry baby suns fans would realize that a SERIES is not lost when you lose one game a SERIES is lost when you LOSE 4 games.

Even if we were all to agree that the suspensions hurt the suns (even though they were clearly going against the rules) what about the other 3 games. What about game 1, 3, 6.

I KNOW game 3 was poorly officiated but they still had a chance to win. just like they still had a chance to win games 5 and 6 both pivotal games in this series.

I don't think this is one of the best series. but it was probably the best so far in the playoffs.

It's not the best series I've ever seen but it was a good one.

Was anyone "given" the series? I don't think so, unless you think the Spurs were given game 1. I think that was the pivotal game of the series. The golden rule of the NBA playoffs is "never lose a home game". The Suns lost game 1 at home and they were in trouble from then on. The put up a strong and valiant effort, but losing game 1 at home is tough to overcome.

I agree, dude. It was a great series, except for the bit with Horry, the suspensions and the way the Suns fans reacted in game 5 (real classy, btw...especially the throwing of the full water bottle at Duncan). People need to grow up, though. It's just basketball. The Suns fans need to go on with their lives just like the Spurs fans have in the past when the Spurs failed to advance to the finals.

Hey, San Antonio Morrons, its time to face the truth. We both know coming out of game 4, after the Suns got home court back, momentum was on their side. Then Stern and Jackson decided to suspend All-Star Amarie and Boris Diaw and not Tim Duncan for doing the same thing earlier in the game. Guys, be honest with yourselves, you know and eveybody outside SA know if that would have happened nobody outside of your markets would have watched the game because without Duncan, the Suns would have run you out of the building in game 5, but instead, the Suns used a 6 man rotation, forcing extra minutes for their other guys, and they still almost pulled it off. They spent themselves in game 5 trying to win in front of the home crowd leaving themselves with a less than rested team for game 6. If it were not for Duncan's popularity, and TV ratings the Spurs would be at home after game 6 instead of the Suns. Politics, gotta love'em.

I appreciate your enthusiasm about it dude, and I wish I felt the same way. I feel cheated out of what should have been a great series.

Both teams lost with all of their starters at one point or another. Both teams lost on their home courts. It was an incredibly even matchup between two awesome, but totally different teams.

Only the Suns had to play a game without their leading scorer, rebounder, shot-blocker AND his backup to boot.

That was the deciding factor. Everything else was too close to call.

Oh it is definitely one of the most exciting series ever seen! It would have been more exciting if it would have gone to game 7 though. Oh well. the Spurs would have one either one.
GO SPURS GO!!!!

I totally agree with you like 99% of it. This isn't the best series I've ever seen, but it was amazingly exciting.
