Why can't I find inspiration to write a song?

Lyrics are my weak point. I here songs that are very simplistic and I can't see how they are so great, take "I Got A Woman." It' all in the music and delivery. That's easy to write but it looks like crap on paper. Could I be writing good lyrics but because they not simplistic like so many other songs I believe that they are crap? Why can't I write lyrics? Melodies are easy, chords are easy, it's the lyrics.

I asked kinda the same question and I got really good answers. Basically nothing looks good to you or sounds good when you sing it but show it to others and see what they think. Don't try to force the inspiration coz it just wont come, sit down and think about whats going on either in your life or in someone elses that you know. Don't give up and keep showing people what you write, at first it's kinda embarrassing but it gets easier and you get a lot of good advice/tips on how to make it even better!

If you are looking to write the next "Big Hit!" Good luck. If you are serious about your art and just happen to be in a rut....stop trying so hard! Follow your instincts and creativity. Record your music and lyrics. Sometimes one comes before the other. As far as lyrics go...try a creative writing course, read ,read, read. Observe the world around you and your reaction to it. Do something that has nothing to do with music. You may be amazed at how life is lyrical and musical even though it has no idea that it's even happening. First and foremost...whatever your goal may be...Follow Your Heart!

Try doing some new things in your life. Volunteer your time. Hang out with a new group of people. Don't try so hard in writing your lyrics.
