For a first time listener, what would you suggest? I like lots of offbeat, indie, alternative, and punk music. A friend said I would probably dig Bowie, but I don't know where to start!
I just heard "Suffragette City" and Loved it =D
Thanks.

Trust me, a first time listener should listen to Let's Dance. I heard it on DDR and I listen to David Bowie now.

In descending order of how much I like them (although there's not much to choose between them because i like them all):

1. Life on Mars
2. Ashes to Ashes
3. Ziggy Stardust
4. Rebel Rebel
5. Heroes
6. Sound and Vision
7. Let's Dance
8. China Girl

try these to start with- they all ROCK. Most of Bowie's early (60s-70s) stuff is the best and some 80s too. Avoid the Tin Machine period which was pretty poor and stick to the Ziggy Stardust and Thin White Duke personas/eras.

All of his music is great. Try the album Heathen or Changes.
