Furniture.

I helped my parents refurbish a 40 year old bedroom set. We sort of took it apart so we could clean and paint it. It was AMAZING to see the detail and craftsmanship that went into this very average set. For example, there was a cloth, a thick piece of fabric, set between the mirror and the frame, just to make SURE the mirror fit as well as it could and didn't rattle. Also, it was all wood, not filler or laminate.

A set that well made today would cost THOUSANDS!

Tinker Toys used to be all wood, every piece. None of those annoying plastic connectors that don't really work.

And bed sheets used to have more threads per inch, be softer and denser, and have nice wide hems on the top sheets and pillowcase, instead of the flimsy fabrics and skimpy hems they have now.

Machinery made of metal, iron, etc. not plastic parts. lasted for many yrs. Same with furniture, hand made of real wood, held together with wooden pegs, with care some of it lasted for 200 years. Quilts, hand stitched lasted 50 years or longer, not machine made where the threading came loose and quilt fell apart.People took pride in hand made items, not like today`s fast production made of inferior materials for fast profits and sales.
