Its a little wire, literally, with the heat sensor at the end that is at the pilot light. Follow it back to the controller, there will be a screw attaching it to the unit. Remove. Take it with you the store, very important. Get the exact same kind. Ask for help if needed. You'll be a pro in no time. Turn gas off before you start, of course.

As a15 year service tech you shouldnt even be changing this. They quit using those about 25+ years ago in dryers. Get a new dryer as most of the thermocouples that were in dryers were not a normal size at all and you most likely will not be able to get it, and if so are going to pay alot of money for it.

Yes, they still do use these and, in fact I have them on my appliances. You see mine are all older appliances. Maybe on the newer ones but, not the older ones. So, the first two answers are O.K. off with the old, on with the new, it's that simple and, pay attention to the procedure to the way it came off and just reverse it. You may have extra parts for different type of units.
Ace has them for less then about $5.00 in a universal size.

Off with the old on with the new. Just take the old one off and pay attention to the removal. Its really rather simple.
