What do you think of the new coach?

I see that fans reconize that we don't put obscene amounts of money on the table for our veterens but I think that is what the teams heart and soul has always been. Do you ever realize how our star players come out of "nowhere" ? It seems that we give little or unknown players a chance to shine and with good drafting choices and trades we usually pick the "great value players". Does this give Pittsburgh a bad name nationally as a stingy team?

Being a Green Bay fan I can say that there is only one publically owned NFL team. However, Pittsburgh and Green Bay are really the only two teams that seem to convey that blue collar feeling. Pitt has always been (in my opinion) the NFL's toughest team. Although I don't know much about their new coach, I do know that Lawrence Timmons was an excellent pick in the draft, and maybe the best player to team fit of the entire draft. Things like that make me think that eventhough the Cowher era may be at its end, that there are still bright days ahead.

i'm a big steeler fan , maybe the biggest you're going to find outside of pittsburgh . for years i could not get two dates out of my head . the first and the biggest is 1/20/80 which was the last time they won the super bowl 31-19 over the rams until super bowl 40 21-10 over seahawks . the other was 1/28/96 which of course was their only loss 27-17 to the cowboys . bill cowher was one hell of a coach and if the steelers could of afford to pay and keep all those players that they drafted he might of won 4 super bowls like chuck noll . mike tomlin is great with the 4-3 defense which helped pittisburgh win 4 super bowls in 6 years in the 70's (the steel curtain) and dick lebeau is one of the best ever with the 3-4 defense which of course helped cowher and bettis get a ring . if they can find a way to blend it together and add a few players here and there lookout . they could become the 1st team to win 6 super bowls . and maybe sooner then later !!!!

Wait and see. I have been a steelers fan all my life and I am not real sure about this coach. I worry some that the steelers are not paying the money necessary to keep the great players and that maybe they did not go after the best available coach. But we shall see. They are a great organization, but I hate to say it, a little cheap. I am afraid it may come back to bite them. Whatever happens I will still be rooting for them in my steelers towel, cap, neck warmer, with my steelers pen light shining at the tv trying to distract the opposing team. Go Steelers.

They are boring kind of like the spurs in basketball. Their uniforms are terrible and lack that slick streamlined look that say your rival eagles have. However they get the job done, there was no need to pay Joey Porter money he was a head case. Lawrence Timmons will be good and Lamarr Woodley will also be decent. As for the coach, the more i hear about him the more I like, he seems to be the right hire to string the team away from the cowher days. You dont want a coach very similar to cowher because then the players would say: man this guy is terrible Cowher used to do this or that so much better.

As a Sports Agent, Yes the Rooneys are stingy to a degree. I think over the past years they could have made trades which would have worked to their benefit, but on the other hand with good coaching they have done extremely well, with mediocre players under Bill Cowher. Time will tell, though, if Tomlin can rise to that level. Although, I am disappointed that the Steelers refused to bring in for a tryout Derrion Fuqua, the son of Frenchy Fuqua (whom I represent). I believe he could of really helped the defensive backfield.

I am from NJ and now live outside of Las Vegas.
All my life they've been a very good team.
Good ownership, now a wack job like the Yankess.
No one really gets into trouble, Roger Vick.

Nicwe uniforms. Still think they rigges the game against the Raiders in the late 1970s. but that is my problem.

Steelers a very well respected franchise.

I'm a life long Steeler fan in AZ. I think Tomlin is going to be a good coach for the Steelers. They may have a little rebuilding to do, but if Ben has a decent year I think we'll be in the playoffs this season.

I am a Steeler fan and I believe that they are one of the greatest franchises in all of pro sports.

Having said that, I must say that I am disappointed in their apparent assumption that certain key players are disposable.
They have allowed too many key players to slip through the cracks and I don't see them even making the playoffs this year.

The new coach seems like a great fit, but his effectiveness remains to be seen. He may be filling in while Bill Cowher takes "vacation".

The new coach seems weak it's going to take a while for the steelers to get in sync.
