There is no best method.

If calculator is allowed, just click the numbers and operation as they appear.
The answer is 51.75 which is 52%

or round the numbers to the nearest hundreds.remove the zeros,divide and multiply by 100

4751 = 4800 ==> 48
9180 = 9200 ==> 92
48/92 = .5217 x 100 = 52%

Rememebr 55% = 50% plus 5%
It easy to find 50% ==> divide by two (half)
5% is just the decimal moved over one place

50% = Half of 9180 = 4590
so then 5% = 459
4590+459 = 5049 (which is a little bigger than the numberator they gave you.. so about 52% would be good.

THESE NUMBERS are very close together to do approximations

for this one, since fives are easy to work with, figure out what the numerator would be if the answer was 55.

to figure that out, you simply have to multiply the denominator by .55, which is easier than it sounds.

first, divide 9180 by 2 in your head (not too hard) which is 4590. that gives you 50%.

to get the remaining 5%, just take 1/10 of 4590, which is 459.
you can see that the answer is about 5000, and that means that 55% is wrong, so 52% must be correct.

It is difficult to do this without a calculator when the answers are so close.
