I've been with my husband for 15 years. We have fantastic sex but for the last year or so I have no desire for sex except the for the week before my period. I'm not sure if it's because of birth control that I started a little over a year ago or what. It's really starting to worry me because I use to always want it but now I never want it, I mainly do it to satisfy him

Yes the BC pill can do this. The good news is that for some women, changing to a different strength or brand of the pill can solve the problem, so it is well worth going and seeing a doctor about trying a different pill.
For me the only side effect was that I am drier now, but some women have real problems with the pill...so go back to your doc and have a chat.
Best of luck!!

If you started bc a year ago and lost your drive around the same time, the bc might have too much hormone for you. I would go back and ask for something with less. I'm on ortho novum 777 and that seems to work well for me. Also, for what reasons are you on the pill? To regulate your period? or to avoid pregnancy? Have you thought of other methods such as an IUD or the ring? IUD's are hormone free and are placed during an office visit...they can be left for up to 5 years and removed at anytime.

You might also be depressed. You can talk to your doctor about other symptoms you may be having like fatigue or insomnia, hunger, sadness, loss of interest, etc....
Good luck..I hope this helps...

a lot of factors affect our sex drive, the mind and are physical bodies intertwine to form our sex drives, the hormones in our bodies are significant factors, birth control pills regulate your hormones so it is possible these may enter fear with your sex drive, the first two things you should try is a 30 minute brisk walk everyday or at least 4 times a weak, not only will this strengthen your body it will help to re leave stress that you may not even recognize, next take a multi vitamin & mineral suppliment designed for women, after you've tried these simple and effective steps without improvement check with your doctor as there maybe another cause, hope thi helps

Oh yes, losing your sex drive can be normal. And as you already guessed, the birth control may have a great deal to do with it. After all it is playing havoc with your hormones. Maybe you should consider stop taking them and then see if your sex drive comes back. Also other things might also effect it such as early menopause, low thyroid, maybe even anemia.

You sound like me! I've been with my boyfriend for two years and I went I birth control pills and then I NEVER wanted sex except for during my period. O.O I went back to the gynocologist and explained this to my doctor and she said that I should change brands. I did and everything is back to normal. Try changing the pills. It worked for me. Maybe it'll work for you too. ^_^

It's quite common. Your body is always changing a little and as you get older your hormone balances change as well. You might want to check with your doctor just to see if there's any other reasons but I wouldn't worry about it.

it might be because you used to do it so much, that you actually wore yourself out to a point where you didn't want it. or maybe you started to want to spend more quality time with your husband and/or family rather than just sexual things. i'm not quite sure however. i hope that helps.

age, stress, diet and medications can all play a part. ask your doc about the b.c to see if that could be it. you can always try a different one.
