Totally agree with CrystalRT5.

I read so many of those books when I was in the third and fourth grades. What am I saying? I probably read them up through the seventh grade. I was also a fan of the Sweet Valley Twins series (which, now that I look back on it, was only marginally better than the Baby-Sitters Club series).

If you have a girl who isn't into reading, these series might be a way to draw her in. But they are terribly formulaic and hokey. They are in no way great lit. Let her get into the series for a year or so, but then try to have her "graduate" to classics like A Little Princess, The Secret Garden, Little Women, The Bell Jar, Catcher in the Rye, Where the Red Fern Grows and Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry.

They were the trash-lit of preteen girls in the 90s. I personally *loved* them when I was a kid- for about two years (from about age 10 to 12) they were almost the only books I read, aside from school books. The stories were simplistic, but the characters were endearing, and very relatable for a girl that age.

Blast from the past! I read them all, traded them with my friends, and loved them (except they repeated the story of how the club got started too much). I got a lot of good ideas on entertaining and amusing kids that I used while babysitting, then later as a teacher's aide, and even now as a teacher.

The series is good for getting girls (in grades 3-5) to read more books. Otherwise, it's too formulaic to be of significant literary value.

A while ago my friend and I reread some of the Babysitters Club books and it seemed like there were sexual undertones in them.
It was HILARIOUS.

nicely why do not you flow to the library and have a glance on the books. I fairly doubt that your instructor reported it became okay to flow on yahoo solutions and get solutions from random strangers about the books. Do your artwork and prevent askin us.

It sucks and has nothing to do with the real world. Read "Catcher in the Rye" or "The Red Pony" or "Huckleberry Finn".

they're stories about kids who babysit...and make it seem much harder than it really is.
kind of tacky and young.
