THIS IS SO COOL!
EASY HOMEMADE MARBALIZED PAPER
Your Students can create homeade "marbalized" paper
Perfect for cards or special events (Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Easter etc.)
Materials:
Shaving Cream (not gel... colgate works)
White Paper or Cardstock
Food Coloring in several various Colors
old pan or paper plate (needs to be larger then the area of the paper intended on dying)
paper towels
lots of little ones
Procedure:
1. Give each child an art smock and paper towels to lay on table for messes
(You could set up stations with these steps)
2. Give each child a about 2 table spoons of shaving cream
3. Have each child kind of spread their shaving cream around with their fingers on their plate or tray
4. go around with food coloring (be sure to have an adult do this b/c it is messy) and give each tray about 3 drops of food coloring.
5. Add two or three different colors of the coloring
6. Have the child spread the coloring around in the plate not fully mixed in though (kind of show a demo to the kids & look at the website)
7. once the foodcoloring and shaving cream is mixed up have each child place 1/2 of their paper folded as a card the side you want colored down and slightly press down to the foodcoloring mix smooshes down on the paper
8. Wait 10 minuates for the food coloring to dye the paper
9. Take the paper care fully off... dont smoosh any of the shaving cream peaks
10. let the side with s. cream on it set for 3 minuate sit out
11. Take a paper towel and wipe all of the shaving cream off.
12. You now have a card to decorate for mom and dad that smells good :-)

they could use construction paper strips to make little baskets or shapes with a basket weave.
also, you could have them decorate 2 construction paper circles with ribbon and little gems and glue and sequins, markers, etc. then lay one piece flat and glue the popsicle stick to it like a lollipop and then put the other one on the other side, then they have an artwork on a stick that they have decorated like a lollipop.

How bout book markers??? They can draw or write whatever on them. I just did a bunch of homemade ones out of construction paper and then bought a pkg of 30 on clearance at Wal-Mart for $.75 for my ladies church group. Get a hole punch and some ribbon. Everyone loved them.

You can put a piece of paper in a shoe box. Put a few drops of different colored paint in and roll amarble around in it. Makes an awesome design. Also you can rip up different colred preces of paper into 1 cm by 1cm rips. Have them spell out their names like in a mosaic form.
