I was just curious. There isn't any 220 in this apartment, and since I rent I can't get one put in. I'm going crazy using the "laundrymat" since there is only one washer and one dryer and it is the only place to do laundry in town (small town...the closest laundrymat is a forty minute drive away). It seems like someone else is ALWAYS doing laundry. Even if I do get a load in it usually gets interrupted by people knocking on the door asking if I'm done yet or actually taking my clothes out before they're even done. And its two dollars a load. Any help?

Why not just get the washer? They are usually for 110V so that is no problem. Then get one of those drying racks that sits in the bath tub and dry stuff by hanging it on that. It may not be classy but it works out.

There are dryers rated for 120 volts, but there is a catch. Dryers are usually rated at 220 due to the amount of electrical heat it needs to generate to dry clothes fully. 120 volt dryers are small as the size of a dishwasher and the drying capacity is usually limited to several items of clothing. Washing machines are all 120 volts. I also recommend you check your lease to see if you can have a washer/dryer combo in your apartment. Good luck

Yes there are; most wahsers are 110; some dryers are 110 too but you must be sure to know how long it takes, some do it in about one hour others take longer, Search the best brands.

There are also some washer-dryer combo (the same machin wahs and dry) they come too in 110 for some models.

Also there dryers that use gas instead of electricity (I don't really like gas since is quite dangerous; one leak and you could die while you sleep, or burn to death).

Washers are always 110 volts and you can get apartment size dryers that are 110 also ,however they do not dry as fast as the 220 ones.

"not as fast" is a big understatement for 110 dryers. Like, all day for a pair of jeans a t-shirt and a pair of socks. These things (the 110 dryers) are made primarily for in RV's and boats. Next option: Beg landlord for 220 connection. If he's smart, he'll put one in to keep you as a renter. Good luck

I had the same problem, bought a Sears Kenmore, portable washer for my apartment, it rolls right into the closet. It was pricey, but saved me from lugging laundry. I hang everything from hangers, works great for me.7 years. You can order the machine on-line and pick up at the nearest Sears store.

Washers always use 110 volts. You might check with an RV supply for the dryer. You can use gas if you have it.
