I am 16 wks pregnant with #2 and have suffered the usual effects of severe nausea and tried just about everything. I can deal with the medication, side effects, dehydration and hospitalization, difficulty working, sleeping, keeping food and water down, but my question is not what to do to feel better physically, but HOW DO YOU KEEP YOUR SPIRITS UP MENTALLY, WEEK AFTER WEEK? Please, no anwers like, "Think of the little baby inside, pray, etc." I am getting really down about the whole thing and worry I will not take care of myself and will get more sick. Also, it's not going away and I may have at least another month or more of this and have had it since wk 6. I work full time, have a supportive husband and a 3 yr old. Help!

What meds have I been on? Compazine (dud), Reglan (dud), Zofran (worked for 4 wks 'til I developed a tolerance) Unisom + B6 (using now, mixed results)

I had to keep my thoughts off of the nausea or else I would vomit. The only thing that kept my spirits up where thinking what my baby will look like, and how great it will be NOT to be pregnant, and have my baby in my arms. Just think your almost half way through to having a beautiful little baby in your arms. I hope your nausea goes away soon. Good Luck, and Congratulations!!

God I can totally understand what you mean,I was so terribly ill in bed all the time I got sooo depressed.I even started to resent the baby and the fact that I was pregnant and I just looked at how long the weeks were going to be untill it would hopefully end.I took gravol my doctor and every othter doc confirmed that it was fine to take and it was the only thing that helped a bit.The pills they give you did nothing for me at all.The only thing about the gravol is it made me tired.Well as for what I did to lift my spirits ,I would watch tv to take my mind of of being stuck in bed.I hope you feel better so soon and I hate that you have to go through this.

Most likely it will get better in a few weeks. The best way to keep your spirits up is to talk about it. Talk to a family member, friends or maybe even go online and talk to people. There is a great message board on WebMD that you can go and talk to other pregnant ladies about your experiences. I had a difficult pregnancy and talking to people was the best medicine. I hope you feel better. Hang in there.

Somehow there is a reserved straight inside of you that will per server. in the mean time get some rice crackers. plain. nothing but maybe salt. put them next to you before you go to sleep...before you pick your head off your pillow and eat a couple of bites even you you don't want to. it calms the acid in your stomach. I know smells are ever where and it is unbelievable how many scents you smell when you are pregnant so tune into the calming ones. I likes lavender. worked for me but once the lavender smelled like peanut butter. it was we rd. it will be OK sweeter. there are so many of us that have gone before you. I think the suffering is natures was of getting your bonded to your baby in a really weird way. my first son who is 26 said that. am zing perception. resonated correctly within me when he said that. some how all this iciness produces a baby, a miracle never been here before and never again will be here. he/she is yours. you have the strength.

first of all you have my sympathy! I have terrible morning sickness too, but it goes away around 15 weeks for me. I just tried to lose myself in crappy tv movies and romance novels, pretending it wasn't happening to me. What remedies have you tried. I was told to take 1/2 of a unisom tablet and a b-6 vitamin every 4-6 hrs. It works for soem women (not me, sadly) Peppermint is another anti- nausea remedy, I ate peppermint mentos to calm my tummy (that actually worked, as long as I drank water with them, otehrwise they were too sweet.) Good luck, and yes, keep thinking of that darn baby, lol!!
