talk to your doctor, I had really really bad migraines while pregnant, they gave me a shot of Demerol and I took darvocet (hydrocodone makes me ill) all while I was pregnant, but I was farther along then you are now. I would talk to your Dr. cause I know some stronger pills are safe or I should say safe enough (sorry about spellings...lol)

Yes I totally agree, call your doctor. I would almost bet they will say NO to the vicodin. About the strongest medication after a certain point in your pregnancy is darvocet. When I was was 4 months pregnant with my son I had such bad pain and had to have a wisdom tooth pulled and the roots were twisted, etc... I thought I was going to die with the pain I was experiencing, but the dentist could not even give me something strong to numb me. I had a kid equivalent. Double check with your doctor. They should have given you a 24 hour number for emergency and this would qualify. In the mean time regular Tylenol would be ok to take, maybe that could take the edge off a little. Good Luck

Pregnancy
Teratogenic Effects: Pregnancy Category C. There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. VICODIN Tablets should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
Nonteratogenic Effects: Babies born to mothers who have been taking opioids regularly prior to delivery will be physically dependent. The withdrawal signs include irritability and excessive crying, tremors, hyperactive reflexes, increased respiratory rate, increased stools, sneezing, yawning, vomiting, and fever. The intensity of the syndrome does not always correlate with the duration of maternal opioid use or dose. There is no consensus on the best method of managing withdrawal.
Labor and Delivery: As with all narcotics, administration of VICODIN Tablets to the mother shortly before delivery may result in some degree of respiratory depression in the newborn, especially if higher doses are used.
Nursing Mothers: Acetaminophen is excreted in breast milk in small amounts, but the significance of its effects on nursing infants is not known. It is not known whether hydrocodone is excreted in human milk. Because many drugs are excreted in human milk and because of the potential for serious adverse reactions in nursing infants from hydrocodone and acetaminophen, a decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or to discontinue the drug, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother.

I've been told pregnant women can use vicodin (or percoset in some cases) for different things - but only in the 2nd & 3rd trimesters and only when totally needed (last resort kinda thing). And it's supposed to be used especially more sparingly in the 3rd tri because there's a chance the baby could be born addicted to it.

I was prescribed vicodin a few times in my pregnancy, the doctors told me that vicodin is fine to take until you are getting close to your due date because it can cause complications in the baby's breathing when it's born. You should also only take it when you absolutely need to, you don't want your baby to be dependent on it when it's born either.

The only time Vicodin is allowed is in the last trimester and that is only if it is absolutely necessary. Generally nothing other than Tylenol is permitted though. Don't do it, it could hurt your baby.

Honestly, chances are it will not harm your baby. It is a class C drug, which means its effects on the fetus are unknown. Most doctors will prescribe tylenol 3 for pain. If you are admitted to the hospital they usually administer darvocet. All of these are class C. I've had them all during my pregnancy for migraines and have had no problems with my little boy. He is as healthy as he could be. Just don't abuse the drug, discuss taking it with your doctor, and avoid taking it at the end of the pregnancy because the baby could be born with an addiction. Your dr. will probably suggest something a little less addictive and with less of the narcotic.

Coming from a complete medical backround, yes you can. You can take 1 maybe 2 tablets and you and your baby will be fine. If you take massive amounts of course it will hurt your baby. But taking ONLY 1 or 2 tablets it won't hurt anything, and will help your pain a lot. Hope this helps!

No you can not take that. Only Tylenol, sorry. I had migraines when I was pregnant and couldn't take my medication for it and I would be in so much pain. Of course at the end it's worth it to have a healthy baby.

I am not a Doctor, but speaking from experience NO it is not advised to take narcodics in the first trimester of your pregnancy. It can cause birth defects and/or brain damage in the fetus or even cause it to abort. If you are in that much pain you should see a doctor ASAP anyways. If it is for recreational purposes then you need to get a grip and think of you baby first. If you wanted to do drugs then you shouldn't have gotten pregnant to begin with.
