First of all, let it be affirmed that you are indeed perceiving the existence of this question. How is this so? Through your sensations and knowledge (i.e. past sensations and inferences), you can read. Since birth, each one of you has affirmed that anything that can be learned can be PERCEIVED. Confirming information is the purposes of these instruments of detection that make up your five senses (sight, sound, smell, touch, taste). Having come into the world equipped with these abilities, what is this thing called "faith" that has come into this world? Faith, in itself, is merely a thought, termed a belief, in what is and never was - irrational, in other words. Therefore, 'faith' would be completely against human nature, would it not? Then why is it that the mainstream religions hold "faith" in such high esteem?

Suppose a friend performs a magic trick, claiming supernatural powers. However, you know it is simply a deception. Criticizing it would be rationalizing the irrational...

You too have faith. You have an irrational faith that this world that you think you exist in is real.

This is more easily understandable if one considers the actual scale of the components of an atom. If one takes into account the fact that the neutrons, protons and electrons of an atom actually have huge spaces between them it becomes clear that the atoms that make up seemingly solid objects are made up of 99+ percent empty space.

This alone does not seem too important till you add the idea that the atoms that make up seemingly solid objects are more of a loose conglomeration that share a similar attraction but never really touch each other.

At first glance this does not really seem relevant, but closer analysis reveals that this adds a tremendous amount of empty space to solid objects that are already made up of atoms that are 99 percent space. When so-called solid objects are seen in this light it becomes apparent that they can in no way be the seemingly solid objects they appear to be.

We ourselves are not exceptions to this phenomenon.

These seemingly solid objects are more like ghostly images that we interpret as solid objects based on our perceptual conclusions.

From this we must conclude that Perception is some sort of a trick that helps us to take these ghostly images and turn them into a world we can associate and interact with. This clever device seems to be a creation of our intellect that enables us to interact with each other in what appears to be a three dimensional reality.

I hope that helps to answered your question.

Humans recognize patterns. As children, when we see things move, we attribute volition to them.

When u ask a child why the cloud is moving it will say "because it wants to go over there". Before we had a good idea of the laws of physics, even adults could hold such beliefs. It's not against human nature at all. Just based on incomplete info.

Those little things like clouds moving and then storms coming get turned into a god. And there is your faith. Not as many of us have grown up as I would have hoped.

yeah, topgalan said it best, there's no question here, all I see is "why do religions hold faith to such a high esteem?"

Maybe because if we stopped to describe and rationalize how it is that we describe and rationalize, we'd never get anything done. So it takes a considerable amount of faith to believe that you know you exist, and the next step is doing something about it.

Faith is nothing to do with thought .Faith is a gift given to you if you truly want it. It is not automatically acquired .As to its validity there is no human explanation. For those who believe in it no explanation is necessary. For those who don't believe no explanation is possible.I feel sorry for people who live with a closed mind.

I suggest you read Robert Trivers on self-deception. Belief can be easily held despite the greatest cognitive dissonance. I do not criticize the delusion, just the damage to the truth it does.

Do you always just ramble on like that, or do you really have a question.

All I see is a rant... I honestly don't see a question... and that is a violation of the YA rules.

~~~I think you're trying to sputter out that faith is unatural.......is that it? Trust is the same thing as faith. Newborn babies are born with faith and trust that their mothers will continue to feed them. That is natural. ~~~
