One of the major problems that has befallen our country in the last twenty years or so is that way too many of us not only seem to 'care' about other people's lives, we're living our lives through the lives of others.

Basically, we've become a nation of watchers instead of doers.

We've let ourselves become so absorbed in the lives of celebrities, the famous, reality tv shows, etc., than very few of us turn off the tv or turn away from the gossip sources long enough to actually develop and maintain our own full and rewarding lives.

No, because some people are busy in their own lives and have enough going on without having to worry about the others. However, some people are always wanting to know what everybody is doing. Maybe that's why some people are so stressed, always worried about other people. People that don't care are probably more relaxed.

No-- because you said all people. Some people might be. I think if you are satisfied and happy with your own life, you won't be preoccupied with, or even curious about what's going on in others' lives. I think that, for the most part, people have so much on their plates to cope with, in this day and age, that they don't have the inclination, nor the energy to wonder about other peoples lives.

Of course. We're a social species. Learning what others are doing is one way to check ourselves and to check what our society considers normal and acceptable. I think that's why we're so into celebrity gossip. When we're horrified by Actor A leaving Actress B for Actress C, we're all saying to each other that this sort of behavior is not okay. Or maybe Actor A is really into some product; maybe I'll be into that too. It's normal.

Of course. Otherwise newspapers, magazines, reality TV shows would never have been invented and remained popular.

Human beings are very sociable by nature, that's why I think people are curious about others' lives.

No because I have enough, negative and positive, going on in my life I know being curious about someone else's life would totally overwhelm me! Heck, I have to take it one day at a time and sometimes it gets to be one second at a time and I am not an alcoholic or druggie but that's my life!

ABSOLUTELY!!!!!
I think we are all voyers in a sense. If we watch others, we realize that some of our stupid habits and mannerisms are actually pretty common!
